I caught three small Rainbow Trout today while Ice Fishing. As I had them on the cutting board, it occurred to me that I had “Variations of a Theme”. I don’t think I ever got so close and personal with fish before.
Process: Catch, photograph, gut, wash, fillet, marinate and put it in the smoker. Anybody up for some smoked candied trout?

They are! The Rainbow trout from this lake are really dark too. I caught them from other lakes where they are so much lighter in colour…more variations!
